Morning – 31 Things

**I signed up for a class with Ali Edwards over on Big Picture Scrapbooking. During the class I’ll blog some of my stories. The class makes a scrapbook of each of the 31 days, but I signed up more for the practice of writing and blogging again.**

My morning start at the last possible minute. Monday through Friday I hit snooze 3 times. Until I cannot possibility stay in bed for one more minute and get to work on time. I drag myself out of bed at 6:50. Get ready as fast as possible. No time for dilly-dallying. Just shower, brush teeth, makeup, hair, get dressed…out the door.

And then I stop at big M for a mocha and a parfait. I so love those parfaits (have you noticed how much smaller they’ve gotten?).  I honestly would rather stop at Starbucks, but it’s not on the way to the freeway and they don’t have dollar menu parfaits. I makes me happy when I open the little drink hole (what do you call that?) and see the whip cream and chocolate on the top of my coffee…that means it hasn’t been sitting there for a couple of minutes melting. I’m even happier when I taste my coffee and the McDonald’s Barista (haha, that just sounds funny) has remembered to stir my mocha. Sometimes they don’t stir it and then it tastes awful until I can get to work and stir in all that yummy chocolate and vanilla shot that still sit at the bottom of the cup.

Next stop the freeway. More rush, rush, rush. But now I have coffee in hand and music to rock out too. Although often I’ve been driving in silence. Sometimes it’s almost like mediating. I just let my mind wander and go wherever it wants. I have big (and small) epiphanies while driving. Sometimes I just rock out and sing. Every morning I am amazed by the beauty of Utah. We have such pretty skies and the mountains are just beautiful. I snap a picture somedays and then hope for a red light so I can Instagram it. I usually arrive at work at 5 or 10 minutes after 8. If I could just not hit that snooze button that 3rd time, maybe I could get to work before 8. :)

My dream morning: Wake up early. Refreshed and ready to take on the day. Do 20-30 minutes on the elliptical machine. Watch the news and actually pay attention. Make coffee at home and enjoy a cup before my shower. Get ready and to work a few minutes before 8. Sigh. But I’m not a morning person.
